Theatertreffen is back in full swing right now and the highlight of the Nachtmusik program is Erika Stucky in her latest incarnation, Ping Pong performing on May 13.
Back track to 1985: Stucky forms her first a capella and bass band with three other ladies and a bassplayer; they call themselves The Sophisticrats, tucking two albums, 800 concerts and several TV appearances in their hats. Six years later she pairs up with Marc Raoult and they form the band Bubble-Town. Directly after the rise of third-wave-feminism, Stucky fuses her work with two other dames and Mrs. Bubble & Bones is born in 1997.
Originating from the San Francisco flower power and later, relocating to the Swiss mountains for yodel hour, Stucky’s childhood culture shock bred a new passion for jazz music and vocal training.
Fast forward to today: with merely a guitar, laptop, mini-recorder, flute and a few changes of underwear packed loosly in two carry-on bags, Stucky’s Ping Pong tour makes its way to Berlin with producer Knut Jenson on board this time around.
Ping Pong is a spin-off of her last solo program, Suicidal Yodels, and the duo promise to melodize the trashy Super-8 films, as seen in previous shows.
