Top 5 Things to Watch At: Pitchfork Music Festival Berlin

One of the most celebrated voices in music journalism returns with Pitchfork Music Festival Berlin - and it's shining a light on rising talents from around the world.

With established events in Paris and Chicago, Pitchfork Music Festival landed in Berlin last year to great fanfare. This year, the festival will take place across five days, using four different venues, playing host to over 20 acts.

From the serene setting of silent green to the riverside establishment Zenner, the festival will take you on a real journey across the city, offering a kaleidoscope of acts, blending together futuristic sounds, contemporary trends and all-around classics. Mykki Blanco

Renowned multifaceted performing artist Mykki Blanco will bring their unique and eccentric approach to the stage, undoubtedly showcasing work from their new EP Postcards from Italia. Always known for delivering an unparalleled show, Mykki Blanco concerts are not to be missed. Also on the bill is lo-fi soul singer MorMor, and US rapper Mavi.

Armand Hammer

Since the release of their angry-grunge-rap LP We Buy Diabetic Test Strips, New York duo Armand Hammer have cemented themselves as a one-of-a-kind when it comes to cerebral hip-hop. This act – the musical pairing of ELUCID and billy woods – will undoubtedly pack the punches with loaded bars and unearthly stagemanship on their return to Berlin. Also joining them on the night’s lineup is US rapper MIKE.

Nabihah Iqbal

NTS Radio resident and all-around music guru, Iqbal will be delighting the cold streets of Berlin with her tender, warm-hearted shoegaze sounds. Finding her footing on this year’s Ninja Tune LP Dreamer, the London singer-songwriter has managed to melt hearts with her tender, blissful psych-pop music. Also performing at the event will be alt-blues artist Youth Lagoon and new-wave pop duo Sweeping Promises.

Hemlocke Springs

This week will likely be one of the last times to see breakout TikTok star and American singer-songwriter Hemlocke Springs before she starts selling out major arenas. Playing the hits from her wild album Going…Going…Gone!, Hemlocke Springs’ sound is Kate Bush meets Santigold, taking the best elements of modern pop and stoking a fire beneath them. She’ll be joined by eccentric Japanese pop quartet CHAI.

Fazerdaze

Sink into the new wave shoegaze sounds of New Zealand singer-songwriter Fazerdaze. Touring with her band, the bedroom-pop singer’s shows are full of melancholy and fun, plus accessible and intimate music. She’ll be joined by Brooklyn duo Water From Your Eyes and the powerful soul sounds of US singer Annahstasia.
