Tough Love Paradigm (Album)

Laura Lee & The Jettes
Unsolicited Advice
Laura Lee, formerly of grunge act Gurr, returns with her second album following 2021’s Wasteland. Tough Love Paradigm reflects on life as both an independent touring musician and a mother, drawing on her own experiences. The record moves away from grunge-psych towards a more midwest folk sound, influenced by artists such as MJ Lenderman. Its songs utilise relatable subject matter, making the music feel more substantive and down to earth. Album opener ‘Grand Total of Nothing’ captures frustration with the banalities of life, as Lee sings “fell short on change, card payment denied”. On ‘Unsolicited Advice’, featuring Berlin publicist Grant Box, she explores the realities of motherhood. Across the album, Lee writes candidly about disappointment and hard lessons, shaping stories with a plain-spoken honesty.

KILLA Live from Fusion (DJ set)

Killa’s two-hour set from this year’s Fusion Festival captures the chaos and energy of the RäuberInnenhöhle stage at 3am. Best known for her vinyl-only KILLA Airlines show on Refuge Worldwide, the DJ – formerly Killa du Jour – has built a name through eclectic, deep-digging sets. This live mix moves confidently between Bonnie Tyler, Candi Staton, Anthony Rother and a sly X-Files reference, balancing rave, electronica, party tracks and hard techno with ease. It’s a snapshot of a DJ in full command, playful and precise.
