Krake Festival is one of the most exciting, unusual and challenging of Berlin’s music festivals – and that tradition of innovation and experimentation is on show again this year, as the festival announces its 2024 line up.
The focus this year is on platforming artists with disabilities, a group which can be marginalised even among a scene that likes to emphasise diversity. With that in mind, the festival will kick off at Berghain on June 18 with a performance from Drag Syndrome, the world’s “first and only collective of drag kings and queens with Down’s Syndrome”. The night continues with performances from Hard Ton, Pansy, Sarah Sommers and Für Elise, this latter group emerging from the inclusive music project Ich Mache Welle.
Following the big opening performances at Berghain, the Krake Festival Weekend takes place at ://About Blank on June 23-24. With daytime garden parties rolling into nighttime mega jams, this is not one to be missed.
