1977 Martin Ware and Ian Craig Marsh form synth-pop act The Death Daughters, soon to be joined by vocalist Phil Oakey. They would transform into The Human League.

1980 Ware and Marsh split from Oakey to form Heaven 17. Oakey spots Susan Ann Sulley and Joanne Catherall dancing in a nightclub; the core is complete.

1981 The single “Don’t You Want Me” and the album Dare! become massive worldwide hits.

1986 Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis produced single “Human” garners their second US No. 1.

2011 The group re-embraces its classic sound on Credo.
