As there are so few opportunities to party in Berlin, the end of the year comes as a relief for our doldrums. Here are Exberliner’s top picks for boring you one last time in 2012 and one first time in 2013. (Hip hop) GRETCHEN (Obentrautstr. 19-21, Kreuzberg): Ninja Tune’s BONOBO bounces while Gretchen’s regulars regulate. (Techno) SUICIDE CIRCUS (Revalerstr. 99, Friedrichshain): MIKE WALL wails while BENNO BLOME blooms. (Techno) ASTRA (also Revalerstr. 99): OLIVER KOLETZKI gets messy while LEXY & K-PAUL build a new Berlin Wall. (Indie) HEIMATHAFEN NEUKÖLLN (Karl-Marx-Str. 141, Neukölln): ME & MY DRUMMER remind us of summer while JAN PYROMAN takes a break from All In. (Indiepop) SO36 (Oranienstr. 190, Kreuzberg): VIOLA & RADIO GAGA put on their poker faces while ED RAIDER bosses the cross-fader. (Funk) KAFFEE BURGER (Torstr. 60, Mitte): RUPERT’S KITCHEN ORCHESTRA goes down to funky town and DJS DIE ULTIMATIVEN SAMMY UND CRUZ stave off the post holiday blues. Plus there’s something with fireworks at the Brandenburg Gate. Bring mittens. And if you’re still awake… Tuesday, January 1, 2013 (Minimal) BERGHAIN/PANORAMA BAR (Rüdersdorferstr. 70, Friedrichshain): DJ PETE will still be moving feet and RADIO SLAVE will still be riding that wave. (Retropop) VOLKSBÜHNE (Linienstr. 227, Mitte): GEMMA RAY keeps the comedown at bay. (Psychedelectronic) MADAME CLAUDE (Lübbener Str. 19, Kreuzberg): MS20 brings the party to a close eventually.
