Teaming up under the name Dina Summer, Berlin DJ duo Local Suicide and Greek producer Kalipo follow up on their 2022 debut with another collection of cold wave-infused synth-pop and house.

Girls Gang is bursting with club beats, new-wave guitars, dark wave aesthetics and vocals reminiscent of Miss Kittin. This is an album that is not afraid to wear its influences on its sleeve. Going down a poppier route, especially when compared to Local Suicide’s usual output, this record is filled with catchy choruses and epic synth leads.

Of course, no cold-wave release from Berlin is complete without a guest appearance by local star Curses, who has added his chic and shine to the stand-out track ‘Promise Me’. Although it lacks originality in places, Girls Gang is a solid addition to the city’s repertoire of dark wave records. ★★★
