There’s no better way to experience the beauty of language than listening to multilingual rap. Through her French, English and (mostly) German rap, Yetundey offers multifaceted perspectives on life in Berlin and delivers poignant and comical yet heavy-hitting takes on whatever subject she chooses to tackle. Her style, influenced by rap, garage, Afropop and R‘n’B, is brash, wild and extremely lively.
Having grown up in Leipzig, the musician, who has Nigerian and French roots describes herself as a “black hip-hop-dancing Nina Hagen with satirical elements”. As part of the all-female hip-hop label 365XX, Yetundey has released a stream of singles across the last few of years, including ‘Infinity Pool’, ‘Gut Genug’, and her latest release, ‘Sie Muss Weg’. As part of this year’s PIA – pop im ausland event series, the singer-songwriter-producer is not resting on her laurels, with more shows and music on the horizon.
