Few bands have Berlin running through its veins as much as Beatsteaks. Since their formation in 1995, the punk group has been known for their vigour and love for the streets. Although the youthful energy of the Beatsteaks of yore may have disappeared after almost 30 years in the game, their spirit remains unchanged.

They’re still the most important rock band in Berlin

“Fuck the detractors,” sings frontman Arnim Teutoburg-Weiß on the second track, an outcry to anyone who might feel differently to them. Their ninth album, Please retains their signature intensity and roughness throughout. With tracks like ‘Against all Logic’, ‘The Lunatics’, a cover of a Fun Boy Three classic, and ‘Magic Feel’, the band show they’re not over the hill just yet, and after three decades, they’re still the most important rock band in Berlin. ★★★★
