Albertine Sarges’ ‘Girl Missing’: A powerful album of loss and hope

Albertine Sarges returns with 'Girl Missing', a stunning indie pop album celebrating her vulnerability and evolving artistry.

Berlin’s prodigious talent Albertine Sarges returns with a deeply introspective follow-up to her fantastic 2021 record, The Sticky Fingers. Her latest work is an eclectic collection that, as the title alludes to, chronicles her journey through the harrowing experience of losing an old friend. With Girl Missing, the singer-songwriter has created a beautiful body of work that is considerate and playful at the same time.

There are ballads, rock songs and even some folky numbers, all dealing with the process of loss. Building on the immense success of her 2021 debut can’t be easy, but Sarges manages to do exactly that, demonstrating her evolving artistry and deepening the connection with listeners through vulnerability. This album solidifies her place as one of Berlin’s best and somewhat underrated talents. ★★★★★
