For eight years, Dalad Kambhu has served up exquisite Thai cuisine infused with local ingredients. Before Kin Dee closes down at the end of July, Kambhu is leaving us with some hot tips on where else to eat in Berlin.

A place I could go to every week or more is Chungking Noodles in Kreuzberg. Everything is just how I imagine a casual restaurant to be: it’s tasty, delicious and flavourful.

It’s so authentic because it’s their life story.

I could also go to Adana Grillhaus all the time. When you eat the food there, you also experience the story of Turkish immigrants who came to Germany. Sure, when you go to Turkey, some of the dishes might be slightly different, but that’s because it always depends on what ingredients are available.

I think it’s important for people to understand that it’s so authentic because it’s their life story of what they brought in and what they could find.

Then there’s also Annelies, probably the best brunch place in town. They really create a community feel with the staff there. It’s so sweet and lovely, and the food is so superb, like the kohlrabi salad or the sausage sandwich.

I don’t drink much, but if I did want to grab a drink, I’d go to Victoria Bar, also in Kreuzberg. It’s a Berlin institution, you know what to expect, you always get the best cocktails, and the menu stays the same.

My favourite café? Well, I don’t drink coffee that much, but I’d recommend Kitten Deli Neukölln for its scones and pastries, while Bonanza Coffee, which has multiple branches, also does an amazing hot chocolate.

A place I think is really underrated is Mama Shabz in Kreuzberg. First of all, it’s very delicious. But also, come on: we have great Pakistani food. In Berlin? How amazing is that!?

I’d also say the Indian restaurant Chutnify nearby: it’s so good people should be screaming for it. For a cheap bite, Markthalle Neun has these amazing food vendors on Friday and Saturday. One is called Manti, like the Turkish dumplings. They do amazing delicious spinach dumplings with yoghurt, chilli powder and chilli oil on top – so good.

For something fast, I go to Risa Chicken. Also great if you’re hungover. Just get some deep fried chicken and fries and a fatty sauce, and you have everything you need to soak up the alcohol.
