As September rolls around, it’s time to savour the last of the summer warmth with some great meals. This month, we’re recommending some great spots, from food on a houseboat to a new Wedding location from one of Kreuzberg’s best restaurants.
Theke
The folks behind upscale Kreuzberg wine bar Ora have dived into the lunch game with this counter-service spot in Wedding. Expect takes on classics from Leberkäse sandwiches to eggplant parm, but with primo ingredients sourced from local farms and butchers – and a refreshing lemonade or spritz to round it out.
Pasca.L Choux
Fluffy, puffy choux pastry is the name of the game at this café-patisserie. Sit down outside or take away some profiteroles with some funky flavours like orange-Aperol or coffee-blue cheese, or go for classics like vanilla or strawberry.

Bergmanns
Chef Paul Hattig from Mediterranean hot spot Richard Bistro helms the kitchen at this new arrival. Along with chef Lou Hattig, he’s bringing those influences to Bergmannkiez with a small-plates menu featuring socca (pizza-adjacent chickpea pancakes) and garlic-anchovy-laced bagna cauda; seafood features prominently, but there are ample vegan choices, too.

Blumental Hausboot
Soak up the last of summer by boarding this houseboat floating in Rummelsburger See. From the owners of Kreuzberg brunch spot Blumental, it can be a coffee and cake stop or a full lunch, with menu options like avocado or ajvar on sourdough with plenty of punchy vegetables. There’s even yoga classes from time to time.
