Look, we’re not saying we only decided to highlight Natural Selection because of its incredible pun-based name, but we’d be lying if we said it had no impact on us whatsoever. We love playing with words, it’s sort of our job.
You could say that it’s bio on steroids, but it’s literally the opposite.
If you’re new to the concept of natural wine, it’s basically a catch-all term for wines that have been produced with traditional or simplistic methods, and that avoid the use of additives and things like pesticides. You could say that it’s bio on steroids, but it’s literally the opposite.
Newcomers to the natural wine world would do well to pay a visit to Natural Selection, a new wine shop opened by Andy King in December 2022, which sells a range of natural wines with a special focus placed on those from Eastern Europe, Georgia and Slovenia.
King is clearly passionate about the wines he has in stock, many of which are only made in very small batches. This passion shines especially during the tasting events, where he talks you through the origins of the wines and guides you through the tasting experience. If you’re feeling peckish, the Lebanese eatery directly across the street allows you to bring their food over to the shop, plates and all.
Long-term lovers of natural wine will find plenty to geek out on, and newbies will find a friendly guiding hand to lead them on their journey.
