Rooted in his commitment to vegetarianism, Winnfield has crafted Bonvivant into a standout plant-forward eatery. As Germany’s only Michelin-starred brunch restaurant, it offers a polished plant-based dining experience complemented by sophisticated cocktails – as well as a refined dinner menu for late risers.

“With spring finally back, it’s only a matter of time before I’m heading to KINK. Nice food, nice drinks – but the real star? The setting. Tucked away in Prenzlauer Berg, up the stairs by Markthalle Pfefferberg, it’s straight-up stunning, especially in the summer. If I had the budget, I’d probably book it for my wedding. Speaking of summer, with ice cream season nearing, I’ll be heading to Cuore di Vetro. I think they make hands-down the best gelato in Berlin.

When it comes to burgers, Ryong’s Hulk Burger is my favourite in the city, and probably in all of Germany. It’s not your average burger either; it’s served in a bao bun and loaded with a variety of vegetables, herbs, sauces and a crispy tofu tempura centre. Unreal. They even throw in some edamame on the side to keep things fresh. The rest of the menu is just as fantastic, but the burger is so good that I seldom get around to ordering anything else.

My go-to spot for any occasion is Con Tho. Sure, Berlin has plenty of Vietnamese restaurants, but this one simply hits different. The dishes are refined while remaining rare and special. The best approach is grabbing a group and going all in. Order half the menu if you can. There’s so much to discover; you’ll come across flavours and combinations you didn’t even know you were missing.

An underrated spot I love is aerde. Located in Schöneberg near Bonvivant, they focus on locally grown ingredients and sharing plates. EZSRA is another hidden gem. I appreciate that they value sustainability. Whatever they make tends to be very fresh and interesting.

To wrap things up, you’ve got to check out ACID. Their cardamom buns are a must-try. They’re the kind of pastry that lingers, not just on the palate but in the soul, like a warm embrace on a cold Scandinavian morning. One that leaves behind a craving not just for another bite but for the moment itself. And most importantly, they’re not too sweet!”
