Ryugin Restaurant
Ryugin Restaurant surprises in the best way – a Japanese-European fusion spot that defies expectations. At first glance, it might seem like another ‘creative fusion’ sushi bar trying too hard, but the moment the dishes arrive, it’s clear this is something else entirely. The quality of the fish stands out immediately: impeccably fresh and artfully presented. The hamachi ceviche is a standout – thinly sliced yellowtail in a bright yuzu-miso sauce, topped with caviar and herbs and paired with a smooth mango-avocado dip. Then comes the imperial sashimi plate, an immaculate arrangement of sashimi and tartare that tastes every bit as exquisite as it looks.

KaDeWe’s Austernbar

When it comes to oysters, few places in Berlin deliver quite like the oyster bar at KaDeWe. Located on the Feinschmecker Etage (gourmet floor), it offers a distinctly different experience from the city’s usual seafood spots. Dining in a department store might sound unconventional, but the oysters here are anything but ordinary: massive, juicy and unapologetically decadent. The €38 mixed oyster platter showcases a range of sizes and textures – a tasting that feels indulgent yet precise, offering everything an oyster enthusiast could hope for. It’s certainly on the pricier side, but for those serious about their shellfish, Austernbar more than earns its reputation.

Larb Koi
Before the octopus arrived, the waiter offered a warning: “It’s really spicy.” He wasn’t exaggerating. Even seasoned spice lovers might be caught off guard by how bold and complex the flavours are at Larb Koi – a Thai restaurant that’s anything but subtle. This isn’t the place for delicate sashimi or minimalist plates. Instead, Larb Koi celebrates intensity: a lively mix of heat, tang and texture that defines its kitchen. The octopus curry is a standout, but any of the fried fish dishes deliver the same rush of flavour: salty, sour, spicy and sharp, all perfectly balanced. For those who crave seafood with attitude and dishes that hit hard, Larb Koi is an unmissable stop.

November Brasserie

High-end yet approachable, this restaurant is modern, relaxed and perfect for a date where good food matters as much as good company – especially if sashimi is your thing. Start with the classics: hamachi and scallop carpaccio, seasoned just right so the freshness of the fish and scallops shines through. One of the highlights? Tuna toro with caviar and dashi jelly: a rich burst of umami. And the red Sicilian prawns? Juicy and delicate, they melt in your mouth – the kind of dish you might order twice.
