It is a great place to explore the rich history of Jewish cinema in Germany and beyond
Founded in 1995 and now a staple of the Berlin cinema circuit, the JFFB provides plenty of contemporary and reissue films to explore. With as many as 50 films across different genres, it is a great place to explore the rich history of Jewish cinema in Germany and beyond. Alongside its film programme – which holds competitions for feature and documentary flicks – there are also talks, concerts, readings and exhibitions to supplement the vast array of works on offer. In focus this year is the exhibition Sex. Jewish Positions, wherein the Jewish Museum in Berlin explores the significance of sexuality in Judaism from a variety of perspectives, with an accompanying film series at the festival tackling taboos, desire, sex work and the struggle for sexual education and equality.
