Berlin’s violent weekend: Shooting at King King, deadly brawl in Gesundbrunnen

It was a hot weekend in Berlin, and tempers were high, with several violent incidents reported across the city.

On Friday evening at around 19:20, a 26-year-old man was dining with three friends at King King restaurant on Bergmannstraße when another man approached and shot him multiple times. The attacker fled on foot, and the incident caused panic at the scene. Emergency services arrived promptly and administered first aid to stop the bleeding. The victim underwent emergency surgery and is no longer in danger.

Later that evening, at around 21:10, another man was injured by gunfire on Sonnenallee in Neukölln. The victim, a motorcyclist, was about to mount his bike when an unknown man approached and shot him in the leg before fleeing on foot. He was treated at the scene and is not in serious condition.

The next night, on Saturday at about 20:00, further violence erupted when a masked man approached a teenager at a café on Prinzenallee and fired several shots at him. The 17-year-old was hit in the leg and rushed to hospital for emergency surgery, which saved his life.

The most serious incident of the weekend occurred roughly an hour later in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen, and it proved fatal.

At around 21:00, a large group of people clashed outside a café in the Bastianstraße area. During the altercation, a 30-year-old man suffered severe stab wounds and later died in hospital. A 25-year-old man, suspected of inflicting the fatal wounds, was also injured and required hospital treatment. Initial police reports estimated 40 to 50 people were involved, though police have since declined to confirm that figure. The group is not believed to have known each other personally but is said to have had ties to “certain criminal circles”.
