Up to 15 centimetres of new snow expected on Wednesday

The snow is expected to start falling around 17:00 on Wednesday afternoon. Berlin has already seen wintry conditions over the last few days, but expected snowfall this afternoon means between 5-10cm of new snow is likely to fall in the city, with as much as 15cm in surrounding regions.

The snow is also impacting other German regions, especially in the centre and south of the country. Some domestic flights from BER airport have been cancelled. Flights from Frankfurt and Munich are disrupted, and air traffic from Saarbrücken has been completely suspended.

Train travel is also likely to be restricted, with a spokesperson warning of possible delays and cancellations and the maximum speed on ICE trains limited to 200 km/h while the severe conditions continue.
