Top 100 clubs in the world: Berghain slips down the rankings again

Bad news for Berghain, good news for Berlin’s “everything used to be better” crowd. The latest Top 100 Clubs ranking has been released by industry publication DJ Mag, and it seems that German nightlife is slipping away on the international stage. Only two German venues made the list this year: a record low.

Cologne’s Bootshaus remains the country’s top-ranked club, coming in at number seven, down from fifth place in 2024. Meanwhile, Berghain slid from 13th to 16th, continuing its steady decline in the global rankings. There was more bad news for Berlin: Watergate has shut down and therefore dropped off the list entirely (it ranked 34th in 2024), while Tresor, ranked 77th last year, also missed out.

Commenting on Tresor’s exclusion, DJ Mag wrote: “The upcoming closure in April 2025 likely played a role – a quiet farewell for one of the world’s most influential techno venues.” A curious statement, since Tresor is, in fact, not closing.

The title of world’s best club remains with Hï Ibiza, which topped the ranking for a fourth consecutive year. Its sister venue Ushuaïa took third place, while Green Valley in Brazil held steady at number two.

While Europe’s club scene appears to be in decline, Asia is on the rise. Thailand, in particular, emerged as a hotspot, contributing six clubs to the list – three of them new entries.
