The Tiergarten Tunnel, a busy connection for motorists in Berlin, is closed due to construction work. Although the work was supposed to only take place at night, a lockdown has continued into Wednesday morning.
The Traffic Information Center Berlin (VIZ) announced that it will remain closed this morning until 1:45 pm, but they gave no more information about the background or the reason behind it. However, they had already pointed out that the opening could be delayed if the weather caused entrances and exists to have to be cleared of ice.
Previously, they informed drivers that the tunnel would close in both directions from 8:30 pm to 5 am, due to repair work, on Wednesday night and Thursday night. During this time, they are working on the fire alarm system and the fire doors on the middle wall, which were damaged in a traffic accident.
These disruptions also affect bus traffic. The M41 will not run between either direction between S+U Potsdamer Platz and S+U Hauptbahnhof. The M85 line will also not run between Kulturforum and S+U Hauptbahnhof.
