Smash and grab: Thieves attempt to raid luxury store on Ku’Damm

At 03:27 on Tuesday morning, thieves attempted to raid a luxury Dior shop on the upscale shopping street of Kurfürstendamm in West Berlin. The attempt, however, was a failure and the thieves ended up abandoning the car and fleeing the scene on foot.

A police spokesperson said that one or more perpetrators attempted the crime by driving their car backwards into the shop window in an attempt to force entry. While the window was damaged, the force of the reversing car was not sufficient to gain access to the goods. Instead, they triggered an alarm and ran away.

Attempted heists of this kind are a relatively common occurrence in Berlin, with criminal gangs often targeting luxury shops along Ku’damm.
