The opening of the exhibition will mark the two-year anniversary of the attack. Beginning on October 7 and running for six weeks, visitors will encounter objects linked to the Hamas assault: tables filled with shoes, burnt-out cars, walls scarred by bullets, as well as survivor testimonies and footage recorded on militants’ body cameras. These stark displays recall the incident that triggered the war in Gaza, which continues two years later.

“The Nova Music Festival Exhibition” has previously been staged in several cities. It first opened in Tel Aviv a few months after the attack, before travelling to New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires and Toronto. Another version is scheduled to open in Boston on September 26. The Berlin presentation will be its European debut.

According to Tagesspiegel, the mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner (CDU), will assume “patronage” of the project. He told the newspaper that he hoped for a strong turnout, describing it as an opportunity for people “to take a closer look and realise that the perpetrators were solely concerned with cruel violence against innocent people”, adding that “the fact that it is being shown in Berlin – a city with a unique music and cultural scene – is of particular significance.”

The city has confirmed that the exhibition will receive public funding, though the amount has not been disclosed. Organisers have voiced concerns about security, noting that the New York showing drew protests from pro-Palestinian groups. A comprehensive security plan is now being prepared.
