Thai street? Thaipark to reopen at new location this Saturday
For over 30 years, Thaipark was a Berlin culinary institution, an informal Southeast Asian feast happening every weekend in Wilmersdorf’s Preußenpark. Sadly, the district’s CDU-Green coalition decided to evict the well-loved event this year, and while a new permanent location was being sorted out, Berliners seeking out dumplings and noodles have had to head to Jules B-Side in Gleisdreieck park for the not-bad but much scaled-back Thai Bridge.
This weekend, however, we get to see the actual replacement for Thai Park. The market will reopen on Saturday as the Thai Street Food Market on Württembergische Straße, directly next to its old park. The operator announced on Monday evening that this return would bring back “authentic Thai dishes and an inviting atmosphere”. We’ll have to see how it compares to the original, but it’ll certainly be worth a visit. In the future, the market will open both on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 to 21:00.
