September starts in Berlin with record-breaking temperatures

The summer holidays are over, kids are starting a new school year and if you look closely, you can already spot the first Christmas products on supermarkets shelves, but it looks like autumn is coming in hot this year, as Berlin records record breaking temperatures for the start of September.

The first three days of the week will see temperatures climb ever higher. On Monday it will be 27 degrees, with up to thirteen hours of sunshine; on Tuesday it could reach 33 degrees, while Wednesday may see temperatures rise as high as 34. According to a meteorologist quoted by rbb, this is “about ten degrees warmer than usual… 34 degrees in the first week of September is definitely record-breaking.”

With 780 hours of sunshine this summer, Berlin was the sunniest state in Germany this year.
