Several schools in Brandenburg receive bomb threats
According to the deputy head of the Brandenburg an der Havel school authority, Christof Kürschner, 13 local schools received threatening emails on Monday morning, stating that explosive devices had been placed in the school buildings.
The affected schools—which teach elementary, secondary and high school, and are located in Brandenburg an der Havel, Potsdam and Kleinmachnow (Postdam-Mittelmark)—took the threats seriously. Police forces were quickly informed, and the schools were given the all-clear later in the day.
A criminal investigation is now underway as police try to determine who is behind the emails and why. What is clear for now is that all the messages came from the same sender and contained the same content.
This isn’t the first time schools in Germany have received threats in recent weeks. Schools in Hamburg, Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt were also threatened via email (although nothing suspicious was discovered on site).
