The public prosecutor’s office in Hannover is investigating Steffen Krach, the SPD’s lead candidate for the Berlin House of Representatives election, in three cases.

The investigation concerns allegations that Krach disclosed trade secrets and violated confidentiality obligations during a tender process.

At a press conference on Thursday afternoon, Steffen Krach reported on a donation to the Berlin SPD, which he immediately returned. Krach did not comment on a possible second donation. He described the accusations as baseless and rejected all charges, as his spokesperson confirmed to rbb that evening.

Speaking on rbb‘s Radioeins on Friday morning, Krach emphasised, “There is only one investigation underway in Hanover.” However, within this investigation, several questions remain. “Firstly, the question of donations – and we have only received one donation. We immediately returned it.”
