Police shoot woman armed with knife in Charlottenburg

The woman, who according to police is believed to be suffering from behavioural problems, was shot and injured by officers after threatening passers-by with a knife near Charlottenburg's Mierendorffplatz.

Police shoot woman armed with knife in Charlottenburg

The woman, who was brandishing a knife and threatening passersby, was chased by police on Kaiserin-Augusta-Allee near Mierendorffplatz in Charlottenburg on Thursday afternoon.

When the woman tried to attack the police officers who had been called to the scene, the officers fired several shots, shooting and injuring her. According to police, her injuries were not life-threatening.

A homicide squad has now taken over the investigation. According to police, this is common practice when police have used their firearms, as when they’re permitted to do so is regulated by law. At this point, little information about the woman has been released to the public, but police have confirmed that she was suffering from behavioural problems.
