Six months later, google maps still shows a giant swastika in a field in Brandenburg
It was first spotted in July of last year. Beside a quiet road in a field in Niederfinow, Brandenburg, a giant swastika had been mowed into the ground. The symbol was first spotted by helicopter and reported to police, who found the culprit and had the symbol removed. But they didn’t count on google watching from the above. Today, more than seven months since the incident, the image can still be be found by anyone who cares to take a look.
The controversial symbol is banned in Germany and its use its punishable by a fine or imprisonment of up to three years. When contacted by rbb, a spokesperson for google said that they were aware of the situation and that the offending image would likely be removed within a week.
