Man dies after being shot at Checkpoint Charlie
A violent incident took place at the popular tourist attraction, Checkpoint Charlie, on Sunday night.
According to reports from Tagesspiegel, a 44-year-old man was walking on Zimmerstrasse around 8pm when shots were fired. He was hit several times and collapsed on the sidewalk. Witnesses quickly called the police and emergency services. Paramedics tried to resuscitate the man and took him to hospital where he later died.
Police have not yet provided more information on the incident, but according to witnesses, one person is said to have been arrested. A homicide squad has now taken over the investigation.
