Man arrested after firing arrows from Mitte apartment window

A bizarre incident unfolded Wednesday morning in Berlin-Mitte. According to the public prosecutor’s office, a 54-year-old man repeatedly fired arrows from his window on Zionskirchstrasse, targeting people on Zionskirchplatz below. Fortunately, his aim faltered, and no injuries were reported.

Special police units apprehended the man after forcing their way into his apartment. At the prosecutor’s request, he was placed in a psychiatric facility. The investigation, now focused on attempted murder, seeks to identify other potential targets, particularly a young man and a couple, who may have been shot at.

The police urge anyone with relevant information, including witness accounts, video recordings, or photos to contact the 7th Homicide Squad of the State Criminal Police Office. Information can be submitted by phone at (030) 4664-911777, via email at [email protected], or through the Berlin Police online portal.
