Tragic incident in Kreuzberg: Dog shot dead in altercation

A peaceful walk took a tragic turn in Kreuzberg when a woman’s dog was fatally shot, according to a report from rbb.
The incident took place on Erkelenzdamm on Tuesday night. According to the police report, the 52-year-old dog owner was strolling with her dog (a pit bull) at around 11:00 p.m, when she got into a heated argument with a 40 year old passer-by.
Amidst the chaos, an unknown person seems to have appeared out of nowhere and deliberately shot the dog.
It’s unclear what the two argued about, but the situation quickly escalated when the dog attacked the passer-by, biting his arm. While trying to intervene, the dog owner was also bitten by the pit bull.

The shooter managed to flee toward Fraenkelufer on the Landwehr Canal, escaping capture despite police search efforts in the area. Authorities have not found any indication that the individuals involved knew each other.
Both the injured people were taken to hospital to be treated for their bites, and police are now looking closely into the details surrounding this tragic and bizarre crime. The incident has raised concerns about pet safety and sparked calls for justice in the community.
