King Charles III to visit Berlin next week
On Wednesday afternoon next week, German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier will officially welcome the British monarch King Charles III to his first visit to the country as King. Together with his wife Camilla, Charles will spend two days in the city, visiting an organic farm in Brandenburg, enjoying a state banquet and meeting refugees from Ukraine at the former Tegel airport (haven’t they suffered enough?).
During his time in the city, Charles will also become the first British monarch to give a speech in the Bundestag. Although he bears the title of King, Charles has not yet been officially crowned: that ceremony is set to take place in London on May 6th – a day when most British Berliners and other subjects of the crown might be feeling glad to miss out on the pageantry.
