The S-Bahn (suburban railway) announced that service on lines S41 and S42 between Beusselstraße and Gesundbrunnen was suspended. The new S15 line was also initially out of service.
A fire department spokesperson said the fire broke out in an electrical component in the track. Power to the line was shut off to allow firefighters to work on extinguishing the flames. Twelve fire department personnel were on the scene. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
