Dangerous interference on S-Bahn: Unknown perpetrators lay concrete slabs on train tracks
Berlin police have reported two dangerous incidents in which unknown perpetrators placed slabs of concrete over S-Bahn tracks in Reinickendorf, resulting in considerable damage to property and a dangerous situation for riders.
According to rbb, on Sunday evening a train on the S25 line rode over a concrete slab that had been placed on the tracks, causing significant damage. The same thing happened again on Monday night – but this time, the 76 people on board the S-bahn had to be evacuated immediately on foot. Although none of the passengers were injured, the second train was also left badly damaged.
According to a police spokesperson, things could have been a lot worse. An obstruction like this could easily have resulted in the train being lifted off the railway completely, potentially causing more significant injury to riders.
Police are currently investigating the case and asking anyone with information on the unknown perpetrators to contact them directly on a free hotline (080 06888000 and 030 206229360).
