Car crash in Prenzlauer Berg derails tram

On Wednesday afternoon, a serious accident took place at the intersection at Schönhauser Allee, leaving a tram derailed and multiple people injured, as reported by Tagesspiegel.

According to police, a 60-year old man was driving his camper van down Wisbyer Straße towards Wedding around 1 p.m. This busy intersection is already a hotspot for accidents, but it erupted into chaos when the driver collided with three cars and a motorcycle, before crashing into an oncoming tram.

The driver of the van suffered injuries to his head and upper body, and was rushed to a nearby clinic. The three other drivers, as well as the 62-year-old motorcyclist, were also injured. The tram left the track and emergency vehicles were called, but passengers and driver were left unscathed. The intersection remained closed for two hours following the incident.
