Beware the Blue Punisher: Dangerous ecstasy warning in Berlin
Remember the good old days when ecstasy tablets were printed with smiley faces or, at worst, a Mitsubishi logo? That halcyon days are clearly behind us now – as Berlin authorities have issued a warning for drugs users in the city to watch out for Blue Punisher pills.
News of the death from overdose of a 13 year old girl in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern this Monday has placed increasing scrutiny on dangerous drugs in Berlin. Legal drug checking has been available in the city for a couple of months now, and this service allows drug users to bring illegal substances into certified centres for analysis, hoping to ensure safe drug use. And it is thanks to these drug centres that a warning has now been placed on the Blue Punisher pill. This was reportedly the same variety of tablet which caused the teenager to overdose. But the tablet has been the subject of warnings from police for some years now.
💊 Berlin to introduce drug safety checks
The exact strength of a given ecstasy pill can be difficult to determine without chemical analysis. Tablets that look identical from the outside can have completely different compositions. Under analysis from Drug Checking centres, Blue Punishers were found to contain anything between 116mg to 200 mg of MDMA hydrochloride. This would make these pills quite strong, as a safe dose for a 58kg woman is considered to be about 80mg.
So get your drugs checked, Berlin! It could save your life.
