Berliner wins €120 million jackpot, fails to show up
The winning numbers were drawn in Helsinki on Tuesday: 7, 18, 31, 32, 33, and Euro numbers 10 and 11. Together, they secured the maximum Eurojackpot of €120 million. So far, however, no one has come forward to claim the prize.
What is known is that the ticket was submitted at an outlet in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. The player placed nine bets in total, each costing €19. Their luck did not stop with the jackpot: four additional prizes also went their way.
The odds of winning the Eurojackpot are daunting—just one in 140 million. Yet Berlin seems unusually fortunate. Another resident also scooped the maximum prize as recently as November 2022.
Speculation about the city’s new multi-millionaire has set local newspapers buzzing. The Tagesspiegel calculated how such a fortune might be spent: the winner could purchase 19 million currywursts, spend 17 years in a luxury suite at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski, or buy Germany’s most expensive apartment in Prenzlauer Berg seven times over.
