In response to a request from the Left, the Berlin Senate has reported that Berlin police fired their guns 154 times in 2025, four of which were directed at people. These shots killed one person and injured two others.
This is the same outcome as 2024 – one killed, two injured – although last year, 179 cases of firearm firings were registered. Last year, more animals were shot by Berlin police: 154 compared to 115 this year.
In 2025, Berlin police unintentionally fired shots 16 times. However, these preliminary figures have not yet evaluated 17 of the firearm cases.
