Berlin has opened a new AI-hub to attract more start-ups and businesses working in artificial intelligence and to promote improved networking for AI-focused companies. Senator for Economic Affairs Franziska Giffey (SPD) attended the opening of the new #ai_berlin hub in Alt-Treptow, saying “we need a place where we can showcase what is possible in Berlin together with our partners. This is where everyone comes together.”
The new AI-hub is part of an effort to transform Berlin into one of the world’s leading cities for artificial intelligence. In order to attract AI expertise and make it visible to the world, the new hub in Alt-Treptow is welcoming players from a variety of backgrounds, including start-ups, established companies and research institutions.
Giffey highlighted that the capital currently stands as Germany’s leading centre for AI start-ups, surpassing Munich. The hub will initially be based at the CIC Berlin innovation and start-up campus, with the initiative being delivered by Berlin Partner, the city’s business development agency. The current economic administration has allocated €725,000 for the project in 2025 as initial seed funding. Berlin Partner has been tasked with establishing a self-sustaining hub going forward.
