In the early hours of Monday morning, two unknown men blew up an ATM inside a Prenzlauer Berg shopping centre.
At about 3am, the suspects broke into the mall, where they attached an explosive to an ATM machine, according to Berliner Zeitung. After the bomb was detonated, the men – along with an unidentified lookout who was waiting outside – fled with the money. The group escaped on bicycles, heading in the direction of the Greifswalder Straße S-Bahn station.
More details of the case are still unfolding, but a specialist commissioner at the Berlin State Criminal Police Office has taken over the further investigations.
