Air traffic suspended as BER hit by global IT glitch
A global IT glitch affecting Microsoft Windows workstations is causing chaos in Berlin, with BER airport having to suspend air traffic due to a technical snafu related to the issue. All flights are suspended, with similar problems reported at other airports worldwide.
The malfunction is apparently hitting systems across the globe, with the financial agency Bloomberg affected and Sky News in the UK currently unable to broadcast. Errors were also reported on cloud technology providers such as Amazon Web Services and Google.
At BER, the glitch has led to some luggage being loaded onto a plane, then unloaded, with passengers having to collect their bags from the baggage carousels in order to return to check-in and begin the entire process anew.
