Berlin’s €29 ticket set to return July 1st

On Tuesday, the Berlin Senate confirmed the return of the BVG’s €29 monthly ticket, just in time for the summer season. Like it’s predecessor, the subscription will allow travel in Berlin’s A and B zones, meaning that you’d need an extension ticket to travel in the C zone (which includes the BER airport).

Advanced sales for the €29 ticket were meant to start at Easter, but Berlin’s Deputy Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey has now announced they’ll now be on sale from April 23. Already have the €49 Deutschlandticket or another kind of pass? You’ll be able to swap over to the €29 equivalent on that day as well.

According to information shared by the BVG, the €29 ticket must be ordered as a subscription lasting a minimum of 12 months. It’ll renew automatically but can be cancelled on a monthly basis. A few more important things to know: the €29 ticket won’t be available as a company ticket, no discounts on it will be available for pensioners or students, and it’ll be non-transferable.
