15-year-old Berlin schoolgirl attacked by 5 others for wearing “Allah” necklace

The incident took place on Friday afternoon in the toilets of a high school in Spandau. A 15-year-old girl was attacked by five of her classmates and beaten so badly that she ended up in the hospital. According to a police spokesperson referenced in the Berliner Zeitung, the attack was triggered by the fact that the girl was wearing a necklace with Arabic lettering, spelling out the word “Allah”.

The attackers are said to have torn the chain from neck of the teenage victim and stolen it before assaulting her. A teacher who then became aware of the situation administered first aid to the girl before she was taken to hospital by rescue workers. An investigation into the fight, the robbery and the potential racist or religious motivation for the crime is still underway.
