Last week saw the official launch of one of the most ambitious pieces of cultural programming this year. Zeitgeist Irland 24 is a celebration of Irish culture taking place across Germany with an enormous range of events taking place across the country – but especially here in Berlin. So, what can we expect?
One highlight looming large on our agenda is Brigidsfest 2024
Described as a “season of Irish arts and culture”, this programme will invite over 400 artists and art professionals to over 100 towns and cities across the country. In Berlin, we can expect cultural highlights focusing on writing, music, performance and dance throughout the whole year.
The event series was officially launched on January 18, and some events are already underway.
One highlight looming large on our agenda is Brigidsfest 2024. This is the Irish Embassy’s annual celebration of female Irish literature which is set to take place on Feb 1, featuring author Audrey Magee.
After that, there’s Tracks & Talk with Willis Bird. Here, the Irish musical sensation will showcase new songs in an exclusive intimate concert, followed by a chat with tipBerlin editor Jacek Slaski.
Looking further into the future, the events are too many to count, whether its a new take of the works of Samuel Beckett, an experimental music festival or an Irish-focused edition of Kiezsalon at the Musikbrauerei.
