Fresh month, fresh issue, fresh nights, fresh digs and fresh things sprouting from cracks unexpected. FFFFFFFFuuuu… thought I was going to say it, right? Here’s what’s happening this weekend.
Mary Ocher and Susanna Berivan (Fri, Apr 1), two of our favorite Berliners will be striking this weekend at a brand new bar in Wedding called Daisies, sprouting up like its name and hopefully not wilting soon, either. Somethings must go, so hitting up Nazis Wegbassen – “Bass away Nazis” (Fri, Apr 1 @ Festsaal Kreuzberg) is no unworthy cause. Although this party is all about raising awareness about the neo-Nazi threat in Dresden, help give these fuckers the boot nonetheless.
If you were up for it, and your idealism gives way to sunnier prospects stay there for I’m From Scandinavia (Sat, Apr 2 @ Festsaal Kreuzberg). The Prozac in their DNA (or perhaps having the closest thing in the world to perfect socialized democracy) makes their cheerfulness contagious. But if cool, not chipper is your mood Girl on a Hot Rod (Sat, Apr 2 @ Roadrunners) is keeping the 1950s of the 1990s hip.
But how is that the two worlds of the techno and retro never seem to collide in this city? If you’re looking to stay present (and probably save a lot of money on wardrobe: let’s face it, rockabilly is one HELL of an expensive look), then DJ Kicks/Tartelet Night (Sat, Apr 2 @ Watergate) might be the way to go. But let’s face it, if you’re at Watergate, you’re just as concerned with looking cool.
