With Berlin bidding to host the Olympics, many football fans were surprised to learn that there will be no official FIFA World Cup Fan Mile at Brandenburg Gate this year. The iconic fan zone, which has drawn thousands of supporters during major international tournaments since 2006, has only been absent twice in the past two decades: once during the Covid and once due to a winter tournament schedule. This year, the reason is far more prosaic: no one got the ball rolling.
Fortunately, football fans will still find plenty of places to watch the FIFA World Cup in Berlin. A temporary exemption to the city’s Ruhezeit regulations will allow venues to broadcast matches kicking off at or before 22:00 in outdoor dining and beer garden spaces. As a result, numerous Berlin bars, pubs, beer gardens, cafés and restaurants will be showing World Cup matches on big screens throughout the tournament, providing a place for fans to get together and cheer on their favourite teams. Belushi’s
Belishi’s is a space dedicated to watching live sports in Berlin. With two big locations in Mitte, the American-themed bar is sure to draw crowds for all of the games. Check their website to find what events are scheduled to be screened.
