GROOVE ON – Groove Mag Birthday Special

CLUB A staple read for dance music heads since time immemorial, GROOVE needs your help. The mag turned non-profit in 2024, protecting its editorial direction from commercial interests. That’s why all DJs on the lineup are playing without a fee. So come throw some shapes in support.

Reflections of Pain

FASHION Carousel Collective presents Reflections of Pain, an immersive fashion performance that traces the many phases of pain through garments, movement and live storytelling. Personal narratives unfold alongside wider social reflections, blurring the line between runway and theatre. Taking place during Berlin Fashion Week, the event features works by members Daschkey, sniyyder, shady.eff and soulmade.ls.

David Lynch Exhibition 

ART On art, David Lynch once said, “I don’t know why people expect art to make sense when they accept the fact that life doesn’t.” That philosophy runs through this new exhibition, which brings together his paintings, sculptures, watercolours and early short films. Also included are photographs taken in Berlin, offering further insight into Lynch’s restless imagination and his uniquely dark, intuitive creative vision.

Mark Reeder’s Mystery Movie Night 

FILM Like a box of chocolates, with this mystery movie night, you never know what you’re gonna get. Mark Reeder picks a movie to screen to an intimate audience, and the selection remains a closely guarded secret right until the moment the film starts. It could be a comedy, it could be a horror, it could be a rare sci-fi gem – you just don’t know! One thing is guaranteed: the choices are never boring.

YOU\ME/ALIEN: A Space Opera

OPERA No, this isn’t some sci-fi Fifth Element operatic. Rather, the idea of “space” is reinterpreted as the socio-political areas between people and the way we regard one another. An exercise in radical empathy, a ten-person ensemble blends sound and choreography to pose big questions about togetherness in fractured societies.

Berlin Independent Film Festival

FILM Running at Germany’s oldest cinema, the Berlin Independent Film Festival champions low-budget filmmaking. Timed alongside Berlinale, it pairs indie screenings with workshops and networking, spotlighting new filmmakers making bold work on tiny budgets.

Strom Festival

MUSIC FESTIVAL Techno in the Philharmonie? Sounds like something cooked up on a dance floor way past your bedtime. But wait one second – Strom Festival unites club stalwarts like Ellen Allien, Ben Klock and Fadi Mohem with ambient pioneers Fennesz and Alva Noto. Who said partying couldn’t be highbrow?

Night of the Jumps

SPORT High-octane action awaits as the Uber Arena transforms into a freestyle motocross track. This is seriously sweaty palm stuff. The elite competitors make Evil Knievel’s antics look amateurish. If that wasn’t enough of an adrenaline hit, there’ll also be mountain biking and freestyle trampolining on show.

Refuge Worldwide 5th Birthday

CLUB For five years, Refuge has been providing a platform for up-and-coming musicians and championing a whole host of social causes. Well and truly part of the city’s cultural fabric, with a clout that extends well beyond Berlin, it’s time to celebrate half a decade on the airwaves.

Lydia Lunch’s Big Sexy Noise + Mellowdeath

MUSIC Calling all loudmouths! No Wave icon and voice of a generation, Lydia Lunch, storms back to Berlin – and louder than ever. Joined by her band Big Sexy Noise (featuring members of The Bad Seeds), the trio obliterate rock clichés with their signature ferocity.

FILM FESTIVAL Cinephiles rejoice – the big one is here. Now in its 76th year, Berlin’s favourite film festival kicks off this week, attracting droves of filmmakers, industry professionals and punters with a bustling programme and silver screen glamour. Just remember to get your tickets early.

Schall & Rausch

STAGE Think you know musical theatre? Think again. This Neukölln festival flips the script, bringing performers from across the globe to experiment with beats, strobe lights and pop-infused spectacle. It’ll be anything but trad.

Tanzolymp

SPORT Held annually in Berlin, TANZOLYMP celebrates dance as a global language, bringing young dancers together from around the world. Through classes, seminars and competitions, the festival culminates in an international gala showcasing outstanding soloists, duos and groups.

One Billion Rising

ACTIVISM The fact that one in three women will experience violence in their lifetime is simply unacceptable. The movement behind this demo, which gets its name from that shocking statistic, invites you to stand up and dance together in the face of this shameful aggression.

Berlin Dating Weekender

LOVE This weekenders is the brainchild of Lulu Johnson (Dating in Berlin) and Annika of Overdated, two figures reshaping Berlin’s dating scene. Together, they create IRL spaces for connections that move beyond endless swiping, ghosting and algorithm-driven romance.

BeMarket 

SHOP BeMarket on Ice turns a Friedrichshain ice rink into a pop-up shopping playground. Browse works by 30+ local artists, then take a spin on the 1,000 m² covered ice surface, where winter sports and creative discovery glide side by side.

Newton, Riviera & Dialogues. Collection Fotografis x Helmut Newton.

LAST CHANCE/ART If you’re into photography and have been in Berlin for a while, chances are you’ve seen some of Helmut Newton’s work. Well, this special exhibition showcases several racy and sun-drenched shots taken by the German-Australian snapper on the French Riviera, a perfect Ausflug for when it’s sub-zero outdoors.

Berlin Valentines Run 2026 

A sweet addition to Berlin’s running calendar, the Valentine’s Run invites friends, partners or family to race together through the Gardens of the World. Choose 3, 5 or 10 km on flat paths, then warm up at the finish with mulled wine and a commemorative medal.

MUSIC Iceland has plenty to boast about, and churning out provocative pop stars seems to be one of them. Mixing politics with performance art and techno punk, HATARI arrives in Berlin with guns blazing – performatively, of course.

FOOD FESTIVAL Repping the classier end of Berlin’s culinary cosmos, this week-and-a-half-long festival is one for the gourmands and bon vivants. Knives, forks and wine glasses at the ready, get set to jump into a programme of delicious bites and excellent plonk Bacchus would be proud of!

Kinder der Sonne 

STAGE If you need some added drama in your life, then Berliner Ensemble’s new piece may just be the ticket. Kinder der Sonne, the classic 1905 play by Maxim Gorki, arrives with a new translation and staging, bringing a tale of idealism, desire and social tension to life in a vivid new way.

Cindy Crawford Exhibition

ART Celebrating Cindy Crawford’s 60th birthday, this exhibition traces five decades of iconic imagery by leading fashion photographers. From her 1987 Vogue debut to a rare 2021 collaboration, the show captures Crawford’s enduring charisma, charting her rise as a defining face of the supermodel era and beyond.
