Run-n-Rave: Berlin’s early morning jogging party

Berlin might have an outsized reputation as a party Mecca where people are regularly going hard for 72 hours straight, but in reality this is only a tiny sliver of the overall population. There are plenty of people who are incredibly healthy and love nothing more than getting up at the crack of dawn and going for a nice run before breakfast. If you can relate to either, then Run-n-Rave might just be the thing for you.

About every other Thursday, the Run-n-Rave crew invite people to join them on a run around Görlitzer Park and the canal, followed by an open-air workout in the park’s bowl, before finishing off with DJ sets from In Living Colour and breakfast at nearby brunch spot Nest.

The start time of 7am might sound alarming, but the feeling you get from having a run, workout, dance and breakfast under your belt by 8.30 is worth it.

If you’re worried about whether your fitness level is high enough, run leader Romina Lemm makes sure to keep the jogging section at a pace that suits everyone. Each event is capped at 40 people and it always fills up, so be sure to register in advance. It’s donation based, so get your hand in your pocket – you can’t put a price on the smugness you’ll feel when you tell your coworkers what you did before they even got out of bed.
