The Berlin S-Bahn turns 100 this year, and what better way to honour our favourite mode of transport than by officially making it part of game night?
Ringbahn Roulette, a brand new board game for three to seven railway enthusiasts, combines all the fun experiences this city keeps throwing at you – from trying to find a serious date (although, at this point, not being secretly married would probably suffice) to joining an underground rave collective. Call it exposure therapy!
Developed by Berlin-based couple Hannah and Robert, the entirely independently produced party game works like a stripped-down version of Monopoly. It’s not a drinking game, but the creators invite you to “bring a Sterni or two along if that’s your vibe”.
The goal, as laid out in the instructions, is simple: “Take a full trip around the Ringbahn, back to your home station.” Easier said than done, as the hard-boiled Berliner knows. After dealing with your usual strikes, acts of vandalism and Schienenersatzverkehr, add overly competitive friends to the list of minor inconveniences that will keep you on the edge of your pee-stained seat.
Get together your closest circle and buckle up for the ride. At €39, it won’t even cost you as much as a Deutschlandticket.
