The BVG has added the phrase “in the rainbow district” and rainbow colours to the entrance sign of the Nollendorfplatz U-Bahn station for Pride Month.

The entrance to Schöneberg now sports a more apt name for one of Europe’s oldest queer neighbourhoods. The sign has also received a makeover, moving away from the standard blue and now features a rainbow flag as its backdrop.

The BVG said they want the new title to honour, “one of the capital’s most famous districts… As one of the most important access points to the Regenbogenkiez [rainbow neighbourhood], the U-Bahn station will now point to the historical and cultural significance of this area.”

Although the new signage is a part of Berlin’s Pride Month celebrations, the BVG has said it will be a permanent installation.
